Nonviolence 101: Crash Course for Educators
Create harmony in your classroom, teach students about nonviolence, and revitalize your sense of personal wellbeing.
For Body, Mind, and Spirit
As a caring educator, you likely juggle the wellbeing of your students alongside complex relationships with colleagues, administrators, and parents. While this course is designed to help you harness the power of nonviolence in your professional role, it also aims to revitalize your sense of personal wellbeing (peace begins within each one of us, after all!).
Nonviolence 101 is especially for educators who want to create harmony in their classrooms—and in the broader world around them. Wondering how to expand your own understanding of nonviolence while encouraging students at any grade level to grow into peacebuilders themselves? This self-guided course will lend you plenty of inspiration. Feel called to teach nonviolence? Take advantage of the downloadable lesson plans and schedule a 30-minute consultation with the Metta Center for Nonviolence.
Completion of this course qualifies you for 1 CEU.
"Nonviolence is the greatest power
at the disposal of humankind.”
– Mahatma Gandhi –
The Metta Center for Nonviolence provides educational resources on the safe and effective use of nonviolence, with the recognition that it’s not about putting the right person in power but awakening the right kind of power in people. We advance a higher image of humankind while empowering people to explore the question: How does nonviolence work, and how can I actively contribute to a happier, more peaceful society? The Metta Center holds special consultative status at the UN (Economic and Social Council).
This course is based on 5 animations. These fun, short videos will inspire you (and even your students!) to bridge gaps between peacebuilding in the classroom and building a peaceful world that works for everyone.
Want to teach Nonviolence 101 to your students? This course includes downloadable lesson plans for grades Pre-K to 7 and 8 to 12, along with other classroom resources. Your personal wellbeing matters a lot, so we're also including guided relaxation practices just for you—enjoy!
